The Organising Committee calls for submission of abstracts for the poster presentations. The closing date is 30th November 2009. There will be Best Poster awards:

ABSTRACT GUIDELINES

The Scientific Committee welcomes the submission of abstracts for Poster Presentation at the 5th Scientific Congress of the Asean Society of Colorectal Surgeons & Coloproctology 2010 (8th Malaysian Colorectal
Conference).

Only abstract submissions from registered participants will be accepted. Your registration as well as the necessary fees must be completed by 30th November 2009.

GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS

  • No limit is imposed on the number of abstracts submitted by individuals.
  • Abstracts are to be submitted in English only.
  • Abstracts must be accompanied by payment of registration fees. If the abstract is subsequently not accept for presentation, and the author wishes to cancel his participation, the registration fee will be refunded to the author.
  • The final selection will be the responsibility of the Scientific Committee.

WHERE APPROPRIATE, THE ABSTRACTS SHOULD CONTAIN THE FOLLOWING

  • A statement of the objectives of the study.
  • A description of the methods used.
  • A summary of the results obtained.
  • A statement of the conclusions reached.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PREPARATION OF ABSTRACTS

  • The abstract should not exceed 300 words.
  • Title must be in CAPITAL letters on the first line. Do not indent.
  • Author(s) name(s) and institution(s). Do not include degrees or professional titiles. A maximum of four (4) authors can be listed.
  • Underline the name of the presenting author.
  • Leave one line between the title / author / institution and the body of the abstract.
  • Texts must be typed single-spaced, with only the left margin justified. Graphs, tables and illustrations cannot be included in the abstract.
  • The closing date is 30th November 2009.
  • Abstracts should be submitted using the template provided. Click here to download template file.
  • Abstracts should be saved in Word document format (*.doc) and may not exceed 1mb in filesize. We will be unable to accept the docx format.

BEST POSTER AWARD

The BEST POSTER is an award for the best original scientific or clinical paper submitted by young surgeons in Malaysia for presentation at the 5th Scientific Congress of the Asean Society of Colorectal Surgeons & Coloproctology 2010 (8th Malaysian Colorectal Conference). This award will hopefully encourage a high standard of research and scientific presentations among young surgeons.

THE PRIZE
There will be Best Poster awards:

REGULATIONS

  1. The competition is open to all young surgeons and surgical trainees currently working in Malaysian and Asean hospitals and institutions, who are below 35 years old as on 1st January 2010.
  2. The work submitted may be from any surgical specialty, and it may take the form of clinical trials, surveys, retrospective studies, laboratory experiments or any other form of unpublished original work.
  3. The bulk of the work which are submitted must be performed by the author himself/herself even though he may have done the work in conjunction with other doctors or agencies either locally or overseas. However, the work must be carried out in Malaysia.
  4. The author himself/herself should present the paper at the Meeting in March 2010 if the paper is selected for the finals.
  5. The author must submit a signed declaration of his/her age, that his/her paper has not been published or presented elsewhere and the presenter has done most of the work.

You should save this number for reference and communication purposes.
